Very good article.

I think AI art is just a thing in itself.

There are many different ways that AI can create art, but one of the most common and popular methods is using generative adversarial networks (GANs). GANs are a type of deep learning algorithm that consist of two competing neural networks: a generator and a discriminator. The generator tries to create realistic images from random noise or text prompts, while the discriminator tries to distinguish between real and fake images. The generator learns from the feedback of the discriminator and improves its output over time.

Some examples of AI art created by GANs are:

Portrait of Edmond Belamy, which was sold for $432,500 at Christie's auction house in 2018. It was created by a French collective called Obvious, using a GAN model trained on 15,000 portraits from the 14th to the 20th century.

ThisPersonDoesNotExist.com, which generates realistic faces of people who do not exist. It was created by software engineer Phillip Wang, using a GAN model called StyleGAN2 developed by NVIDIA researchers.

NightCafe Studio, which allows anyone to create AI art from text prompts or existing images. It was created by Australian developer Jon McCormack, using various GAN models such as DALL-E 2, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion.
