The drone attack on Moscow was a major escalation in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. According to Russian authorities, eight drones were used in the strikes, which damaged at least two buildings in the capital, including one near the Ministry of Defense headquarters.

Ukraine initially denied any involvement in the attack, but later a Ukrainian defense source confirmed Kyiv's role, calling it a "special operation" by Ukraine's military. Ukraine's minister of Digital Transformation also claimed the attack and said there would be more strikes to come. The drones used in the attack were reportedly of a new type called "Beaver", which have a long-range and an unconventional design.
