It's indeed surprising that Mercedes, often not considered a frontrunner in this regard, has surpassed tech-forward companies like Tesla in achieving Level 3 autonomy. It further underlines the significance of diverse sensor systems and robust technology infrastructure, as evidenced by Mercedes' use of lidar, radar, and ultrasound sensors.

The analysis on Tesla's overvaluation based on revenues is also enlightening. However, it is worth remembering that the stock market valuation often considers the future potential and disruptive nature of a company more than just revenue numbers. The point made about Tesla's unique EV technology and the forthcoming Dojo supercomputer emphasizes this.

Nevertheless, Mercedes' achievement sets a previous, challenging the narrative that Tesla is the unequivocal leader in the autonomous vehicle space. This could indeed influence investor sentiments and possibly trigger market corrections. That said, it's also essential to keep in mind that the autonomous vehicle race is not a sprint but a marathon. As the author aptly puts, it's a case of “Let's see how this pans out because things could get messy.”
