It's a pretty stupid strategy from Russia to expect the West to take it easy on them for the war in Ukraine. In a way in its speech Russia is giving the initiative to the West regarding Russia's destiny in Ukraine but from a military point of view it is a recipe for defeat. This is where we see that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a very poorly calculated military adventurism with absolutely unclear objectives.
