In his new book “Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party”, Jonathan Karl, the chief Washington correspondent for ABC News, reveals the shocking and disturbing views of a former senior Trump official who spoke to him anonymously. The official, who was part of Trump’s inner circle, called the former president “a traitor” and “a clear and present danger” to the country and the world.

Karl interviewed the anonymous official for his book, which explores how Trump remade the Republican Party in his own image and the wreckage he left in his wake. The official told Karl that Trump was “unfit” for office, “mentally unstable”, and “incapable of learning”. The Insider source also said that Trump “couldn’t be bothered” to learn how to implement his own policies, and that he often contradicted himself and his advisers.

The former Trump insider expressed deep regret for working for Trump and enabling his destructive behavior. The source said that Trump’s actions after the 2020 election, when he refused to concede and incited the violent insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, were “the final straw” that made the insider decide to speak out. He said that Trump was “trying to overthrow the government” and that he was “a traitor to everything this country stands for”.

The anonymous source also warned that Trump poses a serious threat to the future of democracy and the Republican Party, especially if he runs again in 2024. The source said that Trump has “a cult-like hold” on his supporters, and that he is “willing to do anything” to regain power. He said that Trump is “more extreme, vengeful, and divorced from reality” than he was on January 6, and that he is “a ticking time bomb” that could explode at any moment.

Karl discussed his book and his conversation with the anonymous official with Jen Psaki, the former White House press secretary, on MSNBC. Psaki said that she was “shocked” and “horrified” by the revelations, and that they confirmed what many people had suspected about Trump’s character and competence. Psaki also said that the anonymous official’s testimony was “a wake-up call” for the American people and the Republican Party, and that they should not ignore or normalize Trump’s behavior.

Karl said that he hoped his book would shed some light on the reality of Trump’s presidency and the danger he still poses. Karl said that he had known Trump since his days as a New York Post reporter in the 1990s, and that he had covered every day of his administration as ABC News’s chief White House correspondent. He said that he had witnessed firsthand how Trump had “remade the Republican Party in his own image” and how he had “damaged the GOP’s electoral prospects” for the third consecutive election in 2022.

Karl also said that he had spoken to many other former Trump officials, some of whom were more willing to go on the record than others, and that they all had similar stories of chaos, dysfunction, and dishonesty in the Trump White House. The author of the book said that he had tried to be fair and balanced in his reporting, and that he had also included some of the positive aspects of Trump’s presidency, such as his economic policies, his judicial appointments, and his foreign policy achievements.

However, Karl said that the negative aspects of Trump’s presidency far outweighed the positive ones, and that he had a duty to tell the truth and expose the facts. He said that he hoped his book would serve as “an extraordinary view into the politics of our times” and as “a warning” for the future. Karl said that he agreed with the anonymous official’s assessment that Trump was “a traitor” and “a clear and present danger”, and that he hoped the American people and the Republican Party would make the right choice in 2024.
